The Web Library of Seventeenth-Century Music

Links to other sites that include editions of 17th-century music

There are a large number of archives of digital scores on the web; many are listed at Online Music Scores. The following were selected because they specialize in editions of early music, some of it not be available elsewhere. The scores are encoded in a variety of formats; some require downloading special plug-ins or viewers which may not be compatible with certain platforms.

Acadia Early Music Archive (Postscript .eps files; require special viewer)

Cantata Editions (17th- and 18th- century Italian cantatas)

Celesti Fiori - Italian Motets of the 17th Century (provides only sample pages)

Free Sheetmusic from Johan Tufvesson

Online Scores for Study and Analysis (Postscript and Sibelius files)

Pièces de la renaissance: Partitions (includes some early Baroque works)

The Scarlatti Project (Cantatas, serenatas and arias by Alessandro Scarlatti)

Studio aHOYO Early Italian Baroque Library

Editions by Terence Charlston (Keyboard, vocal, and instrumental ensemble)

We also strongly recommend Gordon J. Callon's site Acadia Early Music Resources, which has links to other online music libraries, providers of viewing software, and many other interesting sites.

Suggestions for additional links are invited.
